Secondhand September: A guide to shopping preloved fashion
Posted on
Here at SOTT we like to think of ourselves as pre-loved connoisseurs with a combined 40 years worth of experience in the field so if this secondhand September is your first time buying pre-loved don't worry - we have you covered with our guide to shopping secondhand.
One of our favourite aspects of shopping pre-loved is finding high-end investment pieces at affordable prices. However, when you've never shopped pre-loved before it can sometimes feel overwhelming so we have put together 3 tips for shopping this secondhand September in order to make your experience easier.
1. Know your wardrobe
Secondhand September is all about limiting the number of new clothes that we buy every month so before you head out to your favourite pre-loved shop make sure you have a look through your clothes and identify where the gaps in your wardrobe are.
2. Remember size doesn't mean everything
When looking around a pre-loved shop you will probably find that you are looking at a number of different brands and therefore a size 8 in one brand will most likely not be an 8 in another so don't be afraid to try clothes on that aren't necessarily your size. Plus, if you find something that you love in slightly the wrong size don't forget you can always have it altered!
3. Don't be afraid to ask for help
Often pre-loved shops will be filled with a mix of different brands, items and sizes so it can be natural to feel overwhelmed when you are faced with such an array of clothing so please don't be afraid to ask for help. The shop assistance will most likely have a good understanding of what they currently have in stock and will be more than happy to help you find your perfect item.
We hope you found these tips helpful and have encouraged you to head out to your local pre-loved store for secondhand September. Remember, if you are in the area to check out our beautiful Chelsea store, filled with friendly, helpful faces and some of the best pre-loved designer goodies in all of London.
