Sustainable commitments made on the NYFW SS20 runways

Here at Timpanys sustainability is at our core and we have a passion to change the way consumers shop. Whether it is by extending the lifecycle of your items through buying and selling or purchasing true investment pieces that will appreciate over time. We are advocates of slow fashion and encourage you to join our movement. So, naturally, we were excited to see sustainable commitments being made on the runways of NYFW.
Two designers particularly jumped out at us. First up, we have Hillary Taymourā€™s Spring 2020 collection, with almost all of her Collina Strada label being produced from recycled fabrics. Popular items in the collection included washed out, tie-dye dresses, cargo pants and sweatsuits with daisies scribbled on them. As the show notes declared, ā€œSustainability is a journey, not a destinationā€ while Taymour also admitted, ā€œI am struggling to figure out how to be responsible & transparent as possible.ā€ ā€œEveryday I feel like Iā€™m learning more and more what's the right thing to do and Iā€™m trying to emulate that constantlyā€ ā€œWeā€™re in a climate crisis and people need to think about it. Thereā€™s nowhere else to go. Iā€™m just trying to learn as much as possible.ā€

Tory Burch also showcased a commitment to sustainable living with her collection on Sunday. Her line, which again was made almost entirely from sustainable clothing, took inspiration from the fearless Princess Diana. Burch admitted ā€œI have always admired her and I wanted to tread very carefully because clearly, sheā€™s a style icon and I didnā€™t want to reference that. But I felt she had a fearlessness and being a humanitarian that she was very inspiring.ā€
