Balmain

Pierre Balmain founded the French haute couture fashion brand Balmain in 1945. Growing his name for lavishly embroidered gowns, it wasn’t too long before he retired during the 50s. A variety of artistic directors and designers took his place until Oscar de la Renta, Christophe Decarnin and now Olivier Rousteing have each added their own takes to the brand. Today Balmain is known for its structured blazers and jackets, contrasted with sequins, jewels and detailed gold buttons. Think shoulder pads, sharp silhouettes and opulence.
